T-Mobile Teams with Vendors on AI-RAN

T-Mobile US is teaming up with NVIDIA, Ericsson, and Nokia to develop AI-driven Radio Access Networks (AI-RAN). The partnership will establish the AI-RAN Innovation Center in Bellevue, Washington, focusing on integrating AI into T-Mobile’s 5G network to improve performance, reduce latency, and optimize network operations. By leveraging NVIDIA’s AI Aerial platform and the global telecom expertise of Ericsson and Nokia, the consortium intends to create advanced AI-driven solutions that will enhance user experiences and drive next-gen mobile innovations.

The AI-RAN platform will analyze billions of data points to develop algorithms that optimize network performance in real-time, delivering higher speeds, improved reliability, and reduced latency. It will also enable mobile network infrastructure to run third-party AI applications at the network edge, unlocking new use cases for industries like gaming, augmented reality, and video streaming. The consortium plans to build AI-RAN on an open and containerized framework, enhancing the flexibility and scalability of Open RAN architectures while adding AI-accelerated computing to handle the demanding workloads of future networks.

The AI-RAN Innovation Center will play a key role in the development of AI-RAN technologies and the future of mobile networks, aligning with the AI-RAN Alliance’s mission to improve network efficiency, reduce power consumption, and open new economic opportunities. This collaboration sets the stage for T-Mobile to lead in AI-driven mobile networks, while exploring potential applications across various industries.
