Tarana has launched its second-generation fixed wireless platform, G2, marking a major leap in capacity and signaling a shift in broadband architecture beyond “fiber-only” thinking. The new platform delivers up to 6.4 Gbps per sector and supports up to 2,048 customers per site with gigabit-class service, extending the reach of Tarana’s next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) to both rural and urban markets. Building on the company’s G1 platform — deployed by over 300 operators covering 20 million locations — G2 introduces enhanced spectral efficiency, broad multi-band support, and compatibility with fiber/PON networks.
G2’s integrated radio supports four carrier channels across unlicensed and licensed spectrum, including 3 GHz CBRS, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Its distributed massive MIMO architecture and real-time interference cancellation deliver improved spectral performance while maintaining backward compatibility with G1 Remote Nodes. The system is also managed by Tarana’s cloud-based software suite, which includes autonomous failover capabilities and optimized uplink/downlink ratios per sector.
In parallel, Tarana introduced the RNm, a new multi-band Remote Node designed to match G2’s performance. Operators such as unWired, Nextlink, and Twist Broadband praised the platform’s scalability and ability to compete with fiber and cable in suburban and dense urban markets. G2 BNs are shipping now, with RNm units expected in October 2025.
