Tekelec Reports Revenues up 14% YoY

Tekelec reported Q4 2006 revenue from continuing operations of $154.5 million, up 11% compared to $138.6 million for Q4 2005. Telecom backlog as of December 31, 2006 was $455.3 million compared to $455.0 million as of September 30, 2006 and $520.2 million as of December 31, 2005.

For Q4 2006, Tekelec reported a loss (GAAP) from continuing operations of $1.1 million, or $0.02 loss per diluted share, compared to a loss from continuing operations of $51.5 million, or $0.77 loss per diluted share, for Q4 2005.

As previously announced, Tekelec has retained J. P. Morgan as an advisor to help evaluate strategic alternatives to leverage its Switching Solutions Group.

“We are pleased with our fourth quarter results,” said Frank Plastina, president and CEO of Tekelec. “In particular, our order input reflected several new customer wins for our Network Solutions Group, and our Communications Software Solutions Group was profitable for the year on an operating basis.
