A A

Telenor Global Services (TGS) has selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide an IP Next Generation Network (NGN) for their services worldwide. The solution purchased by Telenor is the Alcatel-Lucent NGN Class 4 / Peering Solution, which expands Class 4 services to IP Peering, thereby providing converged interconnect transit services for wholesale carriers. It involves the Alcatel-Lucent 5020 Media Gateway Controller-12, the Alcatel-Lucent 7510 Media Gateway, and the Fortinet Fortigate firewall. The globally distributed solution includes the 5020 MGC-12 – centrally located in Oslo, and points of presence in Singapore and Hong Kong that contain the media gateways, firewalls, and 7710 Service Router. Expected date of commercial operation is May 2009. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Telenor Global Services provides international interconnect services to Telenor’s 140 million mobile subscribers in Asia and Europe. They are also providing services to other telecom operators.http://www.alcatel-lucent.comhttp://www.telenor.com/globalservices/
