Telewest, a provider of cable modem services in the U.K., is predicting that new budget broadband services from the likes of BT and Wanadoo will be a disappointment to consumers. Telewest argues that the lower cost, higher speed DSL services are made possible by imposing harsh usage caps on customers.
Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband, said “a low-cost 1Mbps service with a 1Gb or 2Gb monthly cap defeats the whole point of faster broadband.
Telewest said it recently increased the speed of its blueyonder broadband services by 50%, at no extra cost and with no usage restrictions. http://mediacentre.telewest.co.uk
