Teradyne has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Quantifi Photonics, a specialist in photonic integrated circuit (PIC) testing, to strengthen its position in high-performance compute and AI-driven optical interconnects. The acquisition, expected to close in the second quarter of 2025, will allow Teradyne to offer scalable test solutions for wafer-level, die/multi-die, and co-packaged optical module testing. This move aligns with the growing demand for high-speed optical interconnects to support AI workloads and cloud infrastructure.
The integration of Quantifi Photonics’ expertise in photonic testing with Teradyne’s semiconductor automated test equipment (ATE) will enable high-volume manufacturing of PICs and co-packaged optics. As AI accelerates the need for bandwidth-efficient and power-optimized networks, the combined technologies will provide advanced test solutions to support the next generation of silicon photonics. Quantifi Photonics’ test instruments, including benchtop and PXI-format solutions, will complement Teradyne’s portfolio in delivering cost-effective, high-throughput design verification and production testing.
The acquisition marks a strategic investment in photonic technology as the industry moves toward integrated optical solutions for AI and cloud computing. By combining expertise, Teradyne and Quantifi Photonics aim to provide a comprehensive turnkey test platform to scale the deployment of high-speed optical interconnects.
