Tyco Electronics has acquired the assets of Zarlink Semiconductor’s Optical Products for approximately US$15 million in cash.
Tyco Electronics, which is based in Switzerland, had fiscal 2009 sales of US$10.3 billion.
Zarlink said the sales allows it to focused on its key growth initiatives in the network timing, medical wireless and line circuit markets. Network timing products include Timing-over-Packet and Synchronous Ethernet solutions for wireless backhaul and new ClockCenter products for optical transport networks (OTN).
