US Conec licenses MDC and MMC VSFF connector to SANWA

US Conec and SANWA Technologies have entered into a licensing agreement that enables SANWA to produce and supply US Conec’s MDC (Miniature Duplex Connector) and MMC (Miniature Multi-fiber Connector) Very Small Form Factor (VSFF) optical connectors and adapters. This partnership is aimed at strengthening the supply chain for next-generation optical link architectures used in data centers and carrier networks deploying 800G and higher-speed transceivers. The MDC and MMC platforms are designed to address the increasing demand for high-density, space-saving fiber-optic cabling solutions that traditional LC and MPO formats can no longer fully accommodate.

The collaboration combines US Conec’s deep expertise in VSFF connector technologies with SANWA’s established track record in manufacturing high-performance communication equipment. Together, they will focus on accelerating the deployment of MDC duplex connectors, adapters, and MMC multi-fiber connectivity solutions that meet the growing demands of hyperscale data centers, embedded optical systems, and emerging 800G+ architectures. The licensing deal ensures a broader multi-sourced supply chain for MDC and MMC products as the industry shifts toward smaller, more compact optical interconnects to support next-generation networking equipment.

Both companies will exhibit their latest VSFF connector solutions at OFC 2025 in San Francisco, offering demonstrations of how MDC and MMC products enable greater density and flexibility in optical infrastructure. This move further expands the ecosystem for VSFF connectivity as optical interconnect density requirements continue to rise across data center and telecom environments.

• The partnership strengthens supply chains for 800G+ data center and carrier network architectures.

• MDC and MMC products address the need for higher-density optical interconnects beyond traditional MPO and LC formats.

• SANWA will manufacture and commercialize MDC duplex connectors, duplex adapters, and MMC multi-fiber adapters.

• Both companies will showcase VSFF solutions at OFC 2025 in San Francisco, April 1-3.

“We are very excited to partner with US Conec on this licensing agreement, enabling us to commercialize our MDC and MMC connectivity solutions,” said Aki Ishikawa, COO and CSO of SANWA Technologies.
