Vantage to Acquire Malaysia Data Center from Yondr

Yondr Group has agreed to sell its Johor, Malaysia, data center campus to Vantage Data Centers as part of a strategy to concentrate future growth in North America and Europe. The campus includes a fully operational 98MW facility and expansion capacity of up to 300MW. The deal is expected to close in Q4 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

Yondr currently manages more than 320MW of leased IT capacity across Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Northern Virginia, and Toronto, with additional land secured for future expansion. The company recently acquired a 163-acre site in Dallas for a planned 550MW data center campus. In the past year, Yondr has delivered more than 100MW of new capacity across Europe and North America, initiated construction in Toronto, and added to its landbank in multiple markets.

Vantage Data Centers will assume control of the Johor campus and integrate the local Yondr team into its Asia-Pacific operations. The move strengthens Vantage’s strategy for Southeast Asia while giving Yondr greater flexibility to accelerate large-scale builds in regions where it sees surging hyperscale demand.

  • 98MW operational capacity sold within a 300MW Johor campus
  • Yondr refocuses on North America and Europe, with recent Dallas land acquisition for 550MW campus
  • Current Yondr portfolio exceeds 320MW across key global markets
  • Vantage expands APAC footprint, absorbing Yondr’s Johor team
  • Transaction expected to close in Q4 2025

“We’re incredibly proud of what the team in Malaysia and Singapore has accomplished — this project is a testament to Yondr’s ability to execute and operate, delivering several months ahead of schedule,” said Aaron Wangenheim, CEO of Yondr. “As we look ahead, Yondr is sharpening its focus on North America and Europe.”

🌐 Analysis: The transaction underscores a divergence in strategy between two hyperscale specialists. Yondr is doubling down on established demand hubs in North America and Europe, while Vantage is pursuing expansion in Southeast Asia, where cloud and AI-driven workloads are creating rapid growth. This move echoes recent hyperscale capacity shifts across APAC, with operators like STT GDC and Princeton Digital also advancing major builds in Johor and Batam.
