VBrick Wins U.S. Patent for Real-Time Video Compression

VBrick Systems has been awarded U.S. patent No. 7,751,482 for its real-time, encoding algorithms used during the compression of streaming video. VBrick said the issue faced when compressing streaming video is how to best optimize the quality of the final image given its real-time nature. In a typical real-time encoder, there is limited CPU power to efficiently compress incoming video streams. VBrick’s patented technology, which specifically addresses the challenge of motion estimation, supports the delivery of high quality video (up to 1080p) while minimizing delay. Motion estimation is the most challenging and compute-intensive aspect of the H.264 algorithm.
