Nokia has signed a new agreement with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to modernize and expand the operator’s radio access network across key regions of Vietnam. The project will focus on Hanoi, the southern region, and border provinces, strengthening national connectivity and advancing Vietnam’s digital transformation goals.
Under the contract, Nokia will supply equipment from its AirScale portfolio, powered by energy-efficient ReefShark System-on-Chip (SoC) technology. The deployment will deliver higher capacity, lower latency, and improved energy performance across VNPT’s mobile network. The agreement also includes network management services to optimize reliability and performance, particularly for high-traffic and remote border areas.
The initiative builds on Nokia’s growing presence in Vietnam’s telecom ecosystem. Earlier this year, Nokia established a local manufacturing hub for AirScale products to serve both domestic and international markets, reinforcing Vietnam’s role in the global telecom supply chain. The expanded collaboration with VNPT aligns with the government’s long-term vision to promote digital inclusion and accelerate nationwide broadband adoption.
