Vitesse and Xilinx Demonstrate 10 Gbps OIF Interoperability

Vitesse Semiconductor and Xilinx successfully completed SPI-4.2 interoperability test between the Vitesse Meigs-II 10 Gbps Ethernet MAC and the Xilinx Virtex-II series FPGA-based SPI-4.2 core. The companies said hardware interoperability of the OIF-compliant SPI-4.2 interface would accelerate the development of high-density GbE and 10GbE in next-generation L2/3 Ethernet switches, edge routers, and Ethernet-over-SONET/SDH platforms.
