Wind River has launched eLxr Pro, a commercial enterprise Linux offering designed for cloud-to-edge deployments. Building on the open source eLxr project, a Debian-based distribution, eLxr Pro addresses the unique needs of industries like AI, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, and telecommunications. The platform provides long-term commercial support, allowing organizations to meet performance and operational demands for next-generation deployments while optimizing near and far edge applications. eLxr Pro offers a streamlined solution for workloads involving AI inference, machine learning, and autonomous operations, leveraging open source flexibility.

The release of eLxr Pro comes at a crucial time, as disruptions such as CentOS reaching end-of-life push CIOs to reconsider their Linux options. Wind River’s offering provides an alternative that simplifies cloud-to-edge solutions and helps manage complex workloads, including rapid data processing. With unmatched industry expertise, Wind River ensures that eLxr Pro delivers stability, security, and technical support for enterprise applications, especially in highly regulated environments, while fostering innovation in a broad range of sectors.

Wind River said its open source credentials, as a founding member of initiatives like the Yocto Project and StarlingX, allows it to deliver tailored solutions for critical applications in industries such as automotive and aerospace. eLxr Pro is positioned to provide commercial support, professional services, and security updates, helping enterprises meet the challenges of deploying high-performance edge systems and industry-specific workloads.

• Wind River introduces eLxr Pro for enterprise cloud-to-edge deployments, built on the eLxr open source project.

• eLxr Pro delivers stability, security updates, and long-term support for AI, aerospace, defense, and more.

• The platform optimizes workloads involving remote updates, AI inference, and autonomous operations across edge environments.

• Wind River offers a variety of SLAs, including security resolution and defect management, for eLxr Pro users.

• eLxr Pro provides a robust, flexible, and industry-specific Linux distribution with enterprise-grade support.

“There is an industry need for a true open source offering not controlled by a corporate entity, but with the option for a highly scaled, reputable business to support the distribution. eLxr Pro offers the industry a robust and differentiated option,” said Avijit Sinha, President of Wind River.
