WSJ: Comcast Builds a Mini Internet

Comcast has over 400 software engineers building its own video version of the Internet, according to a front page story from The Wall Street Journal. The initiative is portrayed as a pre-emptive move to address the looming threat of RBOC competition, content owners distributing video directly over broadband, and third-party aggregators, notably Apple and its video iPods. The Wall Street Journal also reported talks between Comcast and Google about possibly acquiring a stake in Time Warner’s America Online.
