XO Deploys Hatteras' Ethernet Service Edge Platforms

XO Communications is using Hatteras Networks’ HN4000 and HN400 networking platforms to deliver Ethernet services nationwide. Now available in more than 60 metropolitan markets, XO Ethernet Services are enabling businesses at copper-fed locations to take advantage of the types of services previously reserved for buildings connected by fiber.

In addition, Continental Broadband, a leading telecommunications provider for managed services with locally branded business units serving business customers in Chicago, is deploying its HN4000 and HN400 platforms to deliver Metro Ethernet business service in Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Boston, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Richmond and Hampton Roads.

At this week’s Comptel conference in San Diego, Hatteras Networks is demonstrating symmetrical service over standard voice-grade copper twisted pairs with over 200 Mbps of capacity. Hatteras said the demonstration of over 200 Mbps of Ethernet traffic highlights its ability to layer multiple services over a single physical connection with the Quality of Service (QoS) and Class of Service (CoS)http://www.hatterasnetworks.com
