Zayo has expanded its 400G wavelength network to accommodate increasing bandwidth demands in the New York/New Jersey metro area. The expansion enhances high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity for critical industries such as finance, media, and telecommunications. Zayo’s 400G metro network will connect New York’s data centers and subsea cables to key markets across North America, including the financial hubs of New York and Chicago, via the company’s SPREAD Network. The network will also support global connectivity through subsea routes to markets like Latin America and Europe.
Leveraging Ciena technology, Zayo’s 400G upgrade optimizes connectivity between its metro and long-haul networks, ensuring faster service delivery across North America and globally. This expansion is part of Zayo’s broader investment in 400G capacity, with more than 90% of its long-haul network already 400G-enabled. The New York/New Jersey network will be fully operational by early 2025.
Key points:
• Finance: Ultra-low latency and high bandwidth for real-time trading and secure transactions.
• Carrier: Enhanced capacity for North American traffic and subsea connectivity to Europe and beyond.
• Media & Entertainment: Reliable delivery for HD video, streaming, and AI services.
“As one of the most competitive business markets in the world, businesses in New York require a network that can help them keep up,” said Bill Long, Chief Product & Strategy Officer.
