Alcatel 5070 Signaling Server Debuts in Sprint Network

Sprint completed the deployment of eight Alcatel 5070 SSG next generation communication signaling servers in its mobile and long distance network. The new Alcatel 5070 SSG are capable of processing more than twice the Signaling System 7 (SS7) traffic as the previous generation of Alcatel signal transfer points (STPs). The Alcatel 5070 SSG is a high-speed packet switch that receives, routes, and transmits signaling messages for call processing, wireless network services, and intelligent networking services. It supports 1.536 Mbps ATM over T1 links, and SS7 over IP. Specific capabilities also include local number portability and wireless number portability.
