Alcatel-Lucent has enhanced its 7342 ISAM Fiber-to-the-User (FTTU) solution with a new quad port line card, which double system capacity. The new GPON line card has four GPON ports, each of which can support up to 64 subscribers with 2.5 Gbps downstream and 1.25 Gbps upstream line rates. Release 4.4 also supports VoIP with SIP and H248, supporting IPTV with IGMPv3 for fast TV channel change.

The company also introduced a compact, multiple dwelling unit (MDU) GPON optical network terminal (ONT), which is capable of serving up to 12 living units with traditional phone line services and either VDSL or Ethernet data. The MDU ONT can be used to deliver voice, video and data over a building’s existing copper wires.

Alcatel-Lucent also noted that it is engaged in more than 60 FTTx projects around the world, more than 30 of which are with GPON. http://www.alcatel-lucent.com
