The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has adopted low energy wireless technology within its Core Specification.
This could open the market for low-energy Bluetooth wireless sensors for health care, sports and fitness, security, and home entertainment. Such sensors could be powered by long lasting coin-cell batteries that last for several years, while communicating with the millions of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, PCs and PDAs that are shipped each year.
