Bluetooth Adopts Low Energy Spec for Wireless Sensors

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) has adopted low energy wireless technology within its Core Specification. This could open the market for low-energy Bluetooth wireless sensors for health care, sports and fitness, security, and home entertainment. Such sensors could be powered by long lasting coin-cell batteries that last for several years, while communicating with the millions of Bluetooth enabled mobile phones, PCs and PDAs that are shipped each year.
