Bookham’s 980nm OceanBright pump laser technology has been selected by Tyco Telecommunications (US) for deployment in its undersea cable systems. The products will be used in erbium doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), which are, in turn, incorporated into repeaters that form a critical element of undersea cable systems around the world.
Bookham said the reliability of its 980nm pump laser technology has already been proven with over 350,000 units shipped and 14 billion device hours with less than 25 FIT.
