Celite Systems, a start-up based in Austin, Texas, raised $10 million in second round funding for its DSL headend. The Celite equipment could be used by facility-based copper access providers (RBOCs, IOCs and PTTs) and multi-dwelling units (MDUs) to pre-wire communities for broadband services. Investors include Austin Ventures and Highland Capital Partners. With this round, Celite Systems has secured more than $26 million in total funding.

- In April 2003, Celite introduced its DSL Headend technology for multi-dwelling units. Celite runs Ethernet over existing building wiring, without requiring line splitters or filters. DSL lines are multiplexed for the trunk back to the network.
Celite Systems is headed by Roger Dorf, who previously served as the vice president and general manager of Nortel Network’s Broadband Access Business Unit (formerly Promatory).
