Guangdong Telecom, the largest provincial subsidiary of China Telecom, has selected Alcatel-Lucent as a strategic partner for its province-wide metro area network optimization project.
The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router (SR) will be deployed in 21 cities of Guangdong province, including the major cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen. It will enable Guangdong Telecom to satisfy the growing appetite for high speed Internet and IP VPN and NGN services.
The project, which also foresees additional network upgrades and expansions in the future, is expected to be completed by the end of 2007. Financial terms were not disclosed.
