deltathree Deploys NexTone Core Session Controllers

A A

deltathree, a provider of SIP-based hosted communications solutions for service providers and consumers, has deployed NexTone’s Multiprotocol Signaling Switch (MSW) session controller in its SIP-based network. The MSW will be utilized for both deltathree’s iConnectHere division, which provides VoIP services directly to consumers, and its Reseller/Service Provider division, which provides turnkey, private-label VoIP solutions directly to resellers and service providers. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The NexTone MSW provides advanced call routing and call admission control (CAC) capabilities. The NexTone MSW provides programmable routing intelligence, including call route hunting and an ENUM client, for network scale and service reach. The routing capabilities of the NexTone MSW also support comprehensive call detail records. Additionally the NexTone MSW provides the ability to enforce CAC policies centrally to govern capacity and traffic rates for the ingress/egress point to the network. http://www.nextone.com

  • In November 2003, NexTone Communications introduced a new “FlexPeer” technology aimed at normalizing VoIP traffic at the edge of the network before it enters the network core. The technology, which is embedded within NexTone’s Multiprotocol Session Controller (MSC), would enable carriers to adapt their VoIP network to the not-so-subtle nuances of reliably interfacing to VoIP solutions found in other carrier networks or enterprise campuses. Slight differences in vendor implementations of VoIP signaling, T.38 fax support and DTMF transport have caused carriers to use TDM to normalize traffic between back-to-back peering VoIP gateways. NexTone’s FlexPeer provides the same function while remaining in IP format.
  • Announced NexTone customers include iBasis, ITXC, FreeWorld Dialup.
