DriveNets, Fujitsu, and UfiSpace Advance Open Networking with ZR+

DriveNets, Fujitsu Optical Components (FOC), and UfiSpace have announced the successful integration and certification of FOC’s ZR/ZR+ optical modules with DriveNets Network Cloud software on UfiSpace white boxes. This collaboration aims to simplify network management, reduce operational costs, and enhance network efficiency by collapsing multiple network layers into a single platform. By eliminating the need for standalone optical transponders, the solution lowers hardware footprints, power usage, and operational overhead for network operators.

The combined solution also aligns with the Innovative Optical and Wireless Network Initiative (IOWN®), promoting open disaggregated networking and high-speed, high-capacity communication infrastructure. The integrated system supports 400Gbps long-distance transmission with disaggregated software and hardware, including network operating systems, white box switches/routers, and validated 400G ZR/ZR+ optical transceivers. This flexible approach allows operators to mix components from different vendors, advancing open networking and providing significant economic and operational advantages.

“The recent advancements in ZR+ modules simplify the connectivity of data centers that may be hundreds of kilometers apart while reducing the number of network elements operators must manage,” said Nir Gasko, DriveNets VP of Global Strategic Alliances. “Combining innovative ZR+ modules from Fujitsu Optical Components with disaggregated networking solutions creates tremendous efficiencies for operators worldwide.”

• The solution integrates DriveNets Network Cloud software, FOC ZR/ZR+ modules, and UfiSpace white boxes.

• Supports 400Gbps long-distance transmission for data centers and AI clusters.

• Reduces hardware footprint, power consumption, and operational complexity.

• Aligns with IOWN for high-capacity, open-network solutions.

• Recent ZR+ momentum includes partnerships with Acacia, Infinera, and Ciena.
