At ECOC24, Adtran is playing a significant role in the OIF’s multi-vendor demo. Central to the demonstration are Adtran’s Coherent 100ZR QSFP28 pluggable module and the FSP 3000 open optical line system (OLS), which enable the transport of data rates ranging from 100ZR to 400G OpenZR+. The demo spans nearly 300km and showcases interoperability across various vendors’ optical networking technologies, highlighting the capabilities of open, scalable solutions in the industry. Adtran’s participation underscores its leadership in driving open optical networking forward.

The FSP 3000 OLS streamlines management and enhances transmission performance through integrated monitoring, diagnostics, and high-level automation, making it an ideal solution for data center interconnect (DCI) and cloud infrastructure. The 100ZR QSFP28 pluggable transceiver supports low-power, cost-effective 100G transmission over distances of up to 300km. This demonstration of open solutions across multiple vendors provides a clear path for operators looking to enhance network performance and scalability without vendor lock-in.

OIF’s interoperability demo will showcase live collaboration from 34 member companies, offering insights into advancements in data centers, AI/ML technologies, and disaggregated systems. Key technologies on display include 800ZR, 400ZR, Multi-span optics, Energy Efficient Interfaces (EEI), Co-Packaging, and 224G Common Electrical I/O. This comprehensive showcase highlights how open, multi-vendor collaboration is driving the future of high-performance optical networking.

• Products: Adtran Coherent 100ZR QSFP28, FSP 3000 open optical line system (OLS)

• Data rates: 100ZR to 400G OpenZR+

• OIF Demo: Spanning nearly 300km, showing multi-vendor interoperability

• Applications: Data center interconnect (DCI) and cloud infrastructure

• Technologies: 800ZR, 400ZR, Multi-span optics, EEI, Co-Packaging, 224G CEI

“For decades, we’ve been pioneers in the DCI space, enabling enterprises and cloud providers to build high-capacity, high-performance networks. Our solutions are built around an open environment, promoting innovation and seamless interoperability with other vendors. We’re proud to be at the heart of this large-scale demonstration, where our Coherent 100ZR and FSP 3000 OLS are driving the adoption of open, multi-vendor interoperability for data center applications,” commented Stephan Neidlinger, VP of global business development at Adtran. “By championing openness and collaboration across the industry, we’re advancing high-performance networking and reaffirming our leadership in delivering the technologies that will shape the future of optical networking.”
