Google Cloud has launched its 41st cloud region in Querétaro, Mexico, marking its third presence in Latin America alongside Santiago, Chile, and São Paulo, Brazil. The new region aims to deliver fast, reliable, and scalable cloud services to businesses and public sector organizations throughout Mexico and neighboring regions. It also supports local data residency requirements, enabling customers to meet compliance standards while fostering innovation and digital transformation initiatives.

The Querétaro region is part of Google Cloud’s broader $1.2 billion, five-year commitment to Latin America, announced in 2022. This investment focuses on digital infrastructure, skills development, entrepreneurship, and sustainability. Google Cloud projects that this region’s impact will contribute over $11 billion to Mexico’s GDP and create 100,000 jobs by 2030. Additionally, Google Cloud is emphasizing workforce development by partnering with 550 universities across the region, offering no-cost AI and cloud training programs, and awarding over 14,000 digital skill badges to date.

Key Points:

• Cloud Region Benefits:

• Speed: Low-latency experiences and efficient data transfers via Google’s global network.

• Security: Compliance with CNBV frameworks and local data residency.

• Capacity: Support for scaling user and business needs.

• Sustainability: Reduced IT carbon footprint aligned with green targets.

• Workforce Development:

• Commitment to train 1 million Mexicans in AI and cloud technologies.

• Training programs through platforms like YouTube, Google Cloud Skills Boost, and Google Career Certificates.

• Partnerships like “Súbete a la nube” with the IDB, benefiting 12,500 participants.

• Economic Impact:

• $11 billion GDP contribution and 100,000 jobs projected by 2030.

• Support for digital transformation in public and private sectors.

• Focus on AI: The new region supports generative AI development and deployment for Latin American customers.
