HP Selects Broadcom GbE Controllers as Standard Equipment for Desktop PCs

HP has chosen Broadcom Corporation’s BCM5782 NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) controllers as a standard component on its HP Compaq business desktop d330 and d530 models. The BCM5782 incorporates fifth-generation 10/100/1000BASE-T Broadcom technology that combines a triple-speed IEEE 802.3-compliant MAC with a triple-speed Ethernet transceiver, a 32-bit PCI bus interface, and an on-chip buffer memory in a single-chip solution. Broadcom noted that it is shipping, NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet controllers at an annualized run rate of over 20 million units of per year.
