Japan’s KDDI is deploying Starent Networks’ Security Gateway to provide Wi-Fi service for their growing subscriber base. KDDI’s ‘Wi-Fi WIN’ service provides secure and easy Internet access for cellular handsets, via wireless LAN and fixed broadband lines.
Starent’s Security Gateway provides KDDI with a secure entry point into their core network. This function leverages the high-performance and distributed architecture capabilities of Starent Networks’ market leading ST40 multimedia core platform. Additionally, with Starent’s Home Agent (HA) in the network, KDDI subscribers can benefit from service experiences as they roam between un-secure Wi-Fi networks and secure EV-DO networks.
