MontaVista Software announced its participation in bringing the world’s first Linux-based WiMAX multimedia reference design to market, which includes its MontaVista Mobilinux operating system (OS). This device was designed and built in only nine months by EB and NextWave Wireless.
The reference design uses NextWave Wireless’ NW1100 WiMAX baseband mobile subscriber SoC (System on a Chip) with its companion NW1200 multi-band RFIC (Radio Frequency Integrated Circuit).
