Proficient Networks, a start-up based in San Francisco, released an enterprise IP-VPN solution featuring performance management functionality that measures latency, jitter, and packet loss for ensuring end-to-end application performance. Proficient’s Pathfinder moves traffic to the path with the most appropriate characteristics for each application. Proficient’s Network Policy Engine (NPE) appliance directs routers to avoid end-to-end network congestion, while controlling inbound traffic based on lowest cost per bit from multiple service providers. The new enterprise version of the Proficient platform is priced at $9,000.
