RCN Business Solutions is deploying Turin Networks’ Traverse Multiservice Transport Switch to launch Carrier Ethernet services to business customers. The Traverse platform unifies Carrier Ethernet/MPLS switching with next-generation SONET/SDH functionality in a single shelf optimized for metro and interoffice deployments.
RCN Business Solutions has over 9500 route miles of fiber optic and coaxial cable at its disposal in six key metropolitan markets: Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Chicago and San Francisco.
The deployed Carrier Ethernet applications include multipoint E-LAN, as well as point-to-point Ethernet Private Line (EPL) services at both 10/100 and 1,000 Mbps rates, with bandwidth flexibility in 1 Mbps increments.
