SAVVIS Communications introduced a suite of fully-managed, network-based voice application services based on softswitching technology. The rollout enables enterprises to quickly layer a set of telephony services over any voice network, including legacy TDM/PBX-based and next generation IP/SIP-based environments, without purchasing new equipment or software. The new SAVVIS Voice Application Services line-up includes:
- Switched 800 Service – with advanced features such as on-the-fly “ring to” number changing.
Conferencing Service – for both scheduled and “on-the-fly” conferencing.
Mobility/Teleworking – Allows integrated voice, wireless and fax communications into one AccessLine that is customizable by each end user.
Disaster Recovery – ensures company readiness in the event of emergencies and natural disasters without the expense of redundant facilities.
Auto-Attendant – for small offices or remote offices, allowing customization on-the-fly.
IP Voice VPN – allows enterprises to migrate to an IP-enabled voice VPN that delivers virtual PBX and unified messaging capabilities.
Virtual PBX – enables dial plans, ‘on and off net’ calling, call blocking, account codes and performance reporting.
Message Connect – delivers unified messaging to all employees, including ubiquitous voicemail access, wireless notifications, outbound dialing, and customizable personal features.
To deliver the services, SAVVIS has integrated AccessLine Communications’ VoIP softswitch and voice application technology into its global IP network and hosting centers. Under an agreement between the companies, AccessLine will become SAVVIS’ preferred enhanced voice provider, leveraging AccessLine’s voice services, while SAVVIS becomes AccessLine’s exclusive sales partner for the enterprise market and its preferred network provider. AccessLine is a start-up based in Bellevue, Washington.

- Earlier this month, SAVVIS began offering private multicast services via private IP VPNs as a means of delivering streaming applications to corporate end-users. For example, in the financial services industry, financial market data is collected and consolidated in real-time from trading venues around the world and distributed to brokers and dealers. One customer, Moneyline Telerate, is using SAVVIS to distribute real-time financial market data worldwide. Private Multicast is integrated with SAVVIS’ global private network, which spans 45 countries, and with its data centers in the US, Europe, and Asia.
