Sorrento Introduces 10 GigE LAN Module for its DWDM

Sorrento Networks introduced a new module for supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN traffic on its GigaMux DWDM transport platform. The new module targets metro Ethernet transport, storage area networking (SAN) extension and video-on-demand (VOD) transport applications. Sorrento said its GigaMux is able to multiplex and transport 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN data (IEEE 802.3ae) over hundreds of kilometers with the new bi-directional 3R transponder module. The module features physical layer fault and performance monitoring degradation measurement, as well as diagnostic loop-back capability. Sorrento continues to support the 10 Gigabit Ethernet WAN interface, which has been available from the company for approximately two years. Sorrento Networks is also introducing a new GigaMux Fibre Channel module for the SAN market.
