Tele2 has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to build a new pan-European DWDM network capable of scaling support 40 Gbps wavelengths. Tele2’s core transport network will be based on the SURPASS hiT 7300 optical platform. The SURPASS hiT 7300 integrates technology from Stratalight Communications to support the 40 Gbps rates per wavelength.
Tele2’s new optical backbone will cover Central Europe. The deployment started in the second quarter of 2007. Financial terms were not disclosed.
