Windstream, the fifth-largest carrier in the United States with operations in 21 states, has standardized upon and deployed a Hatteras Networks solution for Ethernet service delivery over both copper (EoC) and Time Division Multiplexing (EoTDM) infrastructure. Hatteras Networks’ HN6100 platform delivers up to 40 Gbps of bandwidth, enabling any Ethernet service over any media.

Hatteras said its solution supports all MEF service models, extending Windstream the flexibility to swiftly roll out virtually any service including Windstream’s business data services, transparent local area networks (LANs), wholesale offerings and VoIP.

In addition to the HN6100, the Hatteras Networks products deployed by Windstream include the following:

  • HN4000, a purpose-built Ethernet switching and labeling platform capable of delivering up to 100 Mbps of symmetrical Ethernet services over a single bonded-copper infrastructure;
  • HN400 series of Ethernet over Copper CPE;
  • HN500 series of demarcation devices for Ethernet over TDM and Ethernet over NxT1/E1, and
  • HN 239Repeaters, enabling interconnection of enterprises or mobile towers over longer loop lengths.

Windstream’s portfolio of next-generation Ethernet Business Services, including advanced Internet access and virtual private networks (VPNs), is available in more than 1,000 Windstream exchanges covering approximately 98 percent of its ILEC territory.
