CommScope Expands FTTH Portfolio with Altice Labs XGS-PON

CommScope has launched its new PON Evo suite, a fully integrated set of passive optical network (PON) solutions developed through a strategic collaboration with Altice Labs. The partnership combines CommScope’s virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG) and remote OLT technologies with Altice Labs’ advanced dual-density XGS-PON OLT solutions, enabling service providers to simplify the deployment of next-generation fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. The unified platform is designed to help operators efficiently transition from GPON to XGS-PON and even 50G PON using existing infrastructure.

The PON Evo suite includes CommScope’s vBNG Evo™ solution alongside Altice Labs’ SDN management, operational support systems (OSS), and business support systems (BSS), creating a comprehensive, orchestrated FTTH platform. A key feature of the offering is the integration of Altice Labs’ dual-density XGS-PON SFP and SFP+ optics, which increase PON port density and improve scalability for broadband providers. This collaboration allows service providers to address declining ARPU trends by optimizing their FTTH rollouts while leveraging CommScope’s existing hybrid fiber coax (HFC) and broadband portfolio.

CommScope and Altice Labs will showcase the PON Evo suite at the FTTH Conference in Amsterdam, highlighting the benefits of combining network virtualization with advanced optical technologies. The integrated solution targets operators upgrading to higher-speed fiber networks to support growing demand for bandwidth-intensive applications such as streaming, cloud services, and enterprise connectivity.

Key Points:

• CommScope partners with Altice Labs to launch the PON Evo suite, a unified FTTH solution.

• Combines CommScope’s vBNG Evo and remote OLTs with Altice Labs’ dual-density XGS-PON and SDN/OSS platforms.

• Supports network migration from GPON to XGS-PON and 50G PON on the same infrastructure.

• Boosts PON port density with dual XGS-PON SFP and SFP+ optics.

• Addresses ARPU pressures and enables operators to deploy cost-effective, scalable FTTH networks.

• CommScope and Altice Labs to demonstrate PON Evo at the FTTH Conference in Amsterdam, March 25-27.

“By combining our existing virtual broadband network gateway (vBNG) and remote OLT solutions with Altice Labs’ technologies, we are now positioned to deliver a comprehensive and competitive FTTH portfolio giving our customers a single-source partner,” said Guy Sucharczuk, SVP and president, Access Network Solutions, CommScope.
