Molex has signed an agreement to acquire AirBorn, Inc., an employee-owned company based in Georgetown, TX, known for designing rugged connectors and electronic components. AirBorn supplies mission-critical parts to major global OEMs in aerospace, defense, commercial air, space exploration, medical, and industrial sectors. The acquisition aims to boost Molex’s presence in the $5 billion aerospace and defense interconnect market by combining the companies’ specialized portfolios and expertise.

With over 60 years of experience, AirBorn brings a reputation for durable components that operate under extreme conditions, vital for mission success in challenging environments. Molex plans to integrate AirBorn as the foundation of its aerospace and defense division, benefiting from AirBorn’s industry knowledge and Molex’s global reach and manufacturing scale. The deal is set to close by early December 2024, pending regulatory approvals.

• Acquisition strengthens Molex’s aerospace and defense capabilities.

• AirBorn specializes in rugged connectors and mission-critical electronic components.

• Combined portfolio targets the $5 billion aerospace and defense interconnect market.

• The transaction will close by December 2024, subject to regulatory approval.

• Jones Day serves as Molex’s legal advisor; Evercore acts as financial advisor.

“The acquisition of AirBorn brings strong capabilities to Molex in the aerospace and defense market,” said Joe Nelligan, CEO of Molex. “Combining Molex’s engineering breadth and manufacturing scale with AirBorn’s expertise in ruggedized, mission-critical products will enable us to better serve the evolving needs of our customers in this fast-growing global market.”
